This course is suitable for everyone but has been designed to help employers provide a positive mental health culture within the workplace and provide learners with comprehensive knowledge. Delegates will gain an understanding of common mental health issues and the knowledge & confidence to advocate for mental health awareness. The course gives delegates the ability to spot signs of mental ill health and the skills to be able to act should a condition be suspected. employees undertaking this course will be considered first aiders of mental health within their work places and be a point of contact to help and support those with mental ill health issues.

Please be aware that this course focuses on employees in the workplace and covers subjects that some people may find distressing, including suicide and self-harm. If you feel in advance that this subject may be too distressing for the attendee please do not book them on without first asking them whether they would feel comfortable attending. If the attendee is unsure whether mental health first aid is right for them, please encourage them to contact us to discuss their concerns as we are always happy to explain the course in more detail and identify whether this course is suitable or not.

You do not need any prior knowledge or training to attend, but an interest in the subject is strongly advisable. We recommend this course is attended at our premises due to the sensitive nature but we are happy to come to your location also.

All delegates receive a mental health first aid manual and workbook to support their learning,and a certificate on completion. we also offer a half day awareness class that may be suitable for groups and other staff members who wont be directly responsible for mental health first aid in the workplace, but might be able to offer assistance and support to colleagues. “

This course is suitable for those who want to gain a greater awareness of mental health, to detect early symptoms of some mental health illnesses and the skills to support their own and others’ positive well-being.

Also, those wishing to be a nominated mental health first aid support member of staff.
